Popular Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has responded to frequent claims by fans that he is underrated in the movie industry, saying he does not see himself that way.

Speaking during a recent interview with Akin Abolade, the actor explained that, considering his educational background, he believes he has achieved far more than he ever imagined and remains deeply grateful for his journey.

Reflecting on his early life, Chatta revealed that he never completed formal education and does not even possess an O-level certificate. According to him, when he compares himself to some of his colleagues in the film industry, he sees every achievement as a blessing rather than something he is entitled to.

He said:

“If we are to judge by formal education, I think I, Ibrahim Chatta, should be opening gates for people like Actor Femi Adebayo and Actor Odunlade Adekola and the rest because I didn’t go to school. In fact, I don’t even have O-level.”

The actor further admitted that he feels uncomfortable whenever people describe him as underrated, stressing that he considers his success a product of grace.

“I am always annoyed when people say I am underrated. I think I don’t even deserve all I have got. It is the grace of God that I am enjoying, and I do not take it for granted,” he added.

Despite rejecting the “underrated” label, Chatta acknowledged that many fans only say it out of admiration and genuine support for his craft.

He also expressed appreciation for how far his work has reached, revealing that graduates and even professors now engage with and make use of his projects — something he considers a major blessing.

“I have so many employees that are graduates, professors using my work, so why should I be tagged underrated? Though I know it is the love some of my fans have for me that makes them say that,” he said.

The actor’s remarks have since sparked conversations online, with many fans praising his humility, gratitude, and honest reflection on success despite limited formal education.
