Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has addressed growing concerns over the incident reported at the Kugbo transport terminal in Abuja, insisting that the structure did not collapse.
According to him, what happened was a result of unusually strong wind pressure that affected part of the facility, not a structural failure as widely speculated online.
Wike Dismisses Collapse Narrative
Wike explained that the reports circulating about a “collapse” were inaccurate, stressing that the terminal remains standing and functional.
He said the intensity of the wind experienced at the time was far beyond normal weather conditions, which led to visible damage in some sections.
Blames Location and Weather Conditions
The FCT Minister noted that the terminal’s position on elevated ground made it more exposed to harsh wind impact.
He added that such extreme weather-related incidents are not uncommon globally, urging the public to avoid jumping to conclusions.

The incident has generated mixed reactions online, with many residents expressing concern over the durability of newly constructed public infrastructure in the capital city.
Authorities, however, maintain that there is no structural collapse and that assessments are ongoing to address the affected areas.
