Samuel Chukwueze Set for AC Milan Return as Fulham Decline Permanent Deal
Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze is set to return to AC Milan after Fulham FC decided not to activate the purchase option in his loan agreement following a season-long spell in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old winger joined Fulham in September 2025 in search of more regular playing time after struggling to secure a consistent role in Italy. The move was widely seen as an opportunity for Chukwueze to revive his career and showcase his talents in England.
Mixed Spell at Craven Cottage
Chukwueze made 24 appearances across all competitions for Fulham, including 23 Premier League outings. During that period, he scored three goals and registered four assists in 1,117 minutes of action.
Although the Nigerian international produced moments of brilliance, Fulham’s coaching staff ultimately felt his overall contribution did not justify the reported €24 million to €30 million fee required to make the move permanent.
The winger was also largely used as a rotational player, with 13 of his league appearances coming off the bench under manager Marco Silva.
Bright Moments but Lack of Consistency
One of Chukwueze’s most productive periods came between November and January, when he recorded two goals and three assists in six matches. However, he struggled to maintain that level of performance over the course of the season.
Fulham had initially viewed the loan arrangement as a potential long-term solution, particularly given Chukwueze’s connection with fellow Nigerian internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey. Despite that familiarity, the club has opted against pursuing a permanent transfer.
Uncertain Future at Milan
With Fulham stepping away from a deal, Chukwueze will return to AC Milan, where his future remains uncertain ahead of the summer transfer window.
Reports indicate that the Serie A giants are open to offers as part of a wider squad overhaul, with the Nigerian winger no longer considered a key part of the club’s long-term plans.
Interest in the former Villarreal star is already beginning to emerge, with Everton FC reportedly among the clubs monitoring his situation. Several other Premier League sides are also believed to be keeping tabs on developments as Chukwueze weighs up the next chapter of his career following an inconsistent but valuable spell in England.
