AC Milan have officially announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the club’s new head coach, with the Portuguese tactician signing a two-year contract following his departure from Manchester United earlier this year.

Before moving to Old Trafford in November 2024, he enjoyed remarkable success with Sporting CP, where he ended the club’s 19-year wait for a Portuguese league title during the 2020/21 season. He later guided Sporting to another championship in the 2023/24 campaign, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s brightest managerial talents.

His achievements in Portugal helped establish him as one of the most sought-after coaches on the continent despite his difficult experience in the Premier League.

According to reports in Italy, Amorim has agreed to forgo the salary he was still owed by Manchester United following his dismissal, allowing him to fully focus on his new role at Milan.

The Portuguese coach will take charge of his first match when Milan face Celtic in a pre-season fixture on July 25.
