The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has launched a new humanitarian initiative aimed at helping stranded Nigerian families in South Africa return home and rebuild their lives.
Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram page, the cleric said the programme was inspired by disturbing reports and videos showing Nigerians facing violence, hardship, and difficult living conditions abroad. According to him, the situation deeply moved him and prompted him to take action.
Under the initiative, eligible beneficiaries — particularly married couples with children who are unable to afford their return to Nigeria — will undergo a screening and verification process before being admitted into the programme.
Once approved, the families will receive comprehensive support to aid their reintegration. Their children will be enrolled in schools and provided with free education, while the adults will undergo skill acquisition training designed to help them become self-reliant and rebuild their livelihoods.
Apostle Chibuzor noted that the programme does not currently cover the cost of flight tickets back to Nigeria. However, he disclosed that discussions are ongoing with government officials and airline operators to explore possible partnerships that could assist beneficiaries with transportation.
Beyond accommodation and resettlement, he explained that participants will also receive daily welfare support and structured reintegration assistance to help them transition smoothly back into Nigerian society.
The initiative has since attracted praise from many Nigerians on social media, with supporters commending the cleric for his humanitarian efforts. Others have called on the government and relevant agencies to collaborate with similar programmes aimed at assisting Nigerians facing challenges abroad.
