A lady has sparked widespread reactions online after criticizing some married men in Abuja over relationships she described as emotionally and financially manipulative.

The woman shared her views in a viral social media post, alleging that some married men intentionally introduce young women to luxurious lifestyles they cannot sustain on their own, only to later walk away from the relationships.

According to her, many young women are initially living modest but stable lives before becoming involved with wealthy married men who drastically alter their standard of living.

“You meet a girl managing her life paying rent of ₦400k. Then you start dating her and rent an apartment of ₦2 million for her,” she wrote.

“You introduce her to a certain kind of life and isolate her from everybody. You told her not to date anybody and stay loyal to you that is a married man.”

She further claimed that after establishing emotional and financial control, some of the men eventually withdraw support, often citing religion or a renewed commitment to their families as the reason for ending the relationship.

“You’re now saying you’ve given your life to Christ and want to go back to your wife. Shey you didn’t think about that before?” she added.

The post has since generated mixed reactions on social media. While some users agreed that certain relationships can create unhealthy emotional and financial dependency, others argued that adults should be held accountable for the choices they make.

Conversations surrounding transactional relationships, financial dependence, and modern dating culture in cities like Abuja and Lagos have continued to trend on Nigerian social media in recent years.
