Students in parts of northern Nigeria have been seen stepping on the flags of the Israel and the United States during protests organised in solidarity with Iran.
A video currently circulating online shows a group of students at a school gathering placing the two flags on the ground and stepping on them as part of a demonstration.
Demonstrations Linked to Iran Crisis
The protests were reportedly organised by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), a Shia Islamic group known for staging rallies over international political developments.
According to reports, the demonstrations were held to express support for Iran following claims that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was killed during strikes allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel.
During the events, protesters waved Iranian flags and carried large portraits of Khamenei while chanting slogans critical of the two countries.
Similar Protests Across Northern States
Reports indicate that similar demonstrations occurred in several northern states, including Gombe State, Kano State, and Niger State.
In some locations, organisers reportedly placed Israeli and American flags on the ground during school gatherings and marches, where participants symbolically stepped on them as part of the protest.
Organisers described the demonstrations as a way of mourning what they called a “heinous attack” and expressing solidarity with Iran.
