Popular pastor, Rev. Kesiena, has stirred reactions online after delivering a passionate message criticizing Christians over their voting decisions and what he described as their silence amid Nigeria’s growing insecurity.
Speaking during a sermon, the cleric expressed deep concern over the plight of abducted schoolchildren, lamenting that dozens of victims, including very young children, remain in the custody of kidnappers.
“Forty-six people are still in the bush, including children. One amongst them is a two-year-old. They woke up and went to school, just like our own children went to school, and they kidnapped them,” he said.
Rev. Kesiena questioned the priorities of some religious leaders and political figures, arguing that celebrations and political activities continue across the country while many innocent Nigerians suffer in captivity.
The preacher also reflected on the economic hardship facing citizens, sharing a personal experience that highlighted the impact of rising fuel costs.
“I was with Pastor Mina when I bought ₦50,000 fuel. It’s because he was there I could not cry. I just looked at my gauge and said, ‘Na ₦50,000 fuel I buy so.’ Na cry wan comot for my throat,” he recounted.
Addressing the political climate, Rev. Kesiena criticized Christians for supporting politicians he believes lack integrity, competence, and a proven record of leadership. He urged voters to place character and accountability above sentiment when making electoral choices.
The cleric further expressed disappointment over what he described as political compromises and poor leadership decisions that have contributed to the country’s current challenges.
“Christians are cowards. That’s why we have raised Christians that can go and vote for a thief, vote for people who don’t have integrity,” he stated.
His remarks have since sparked debate on social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on his comments regarding insecurity, economic hardship, political accountability, and the role of Christians in the electoral process.
