
The sister of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi, who was allegedly killed during a police operation in Effurun, Delta State, has shared an emotional account of what happened before and after the tragic incident.
Speaking in tears, she said her brother left home on a Sunday morning saying he was going to collect a waybill for a friend in Sapele.
“The day e happen na Sunday… he tell me say he wan go collect waybill,” she said.
According to her, he also complained about his phone before leaving and used their mother’s phone to make calls and receive money for transport.
She explained that the family became worried when they could no longer reach him after he left.
“After some time, we no hear from am again… nobody pick the calls,” she added.
The situation reportedly escalated when they later heard that police had shot someone in the area. The family rushed to the scene, only to make a heartbreaking discovery.
“We rush go there… when we reach, na my brother we see… he don already die,” she said.
She also denied claims that her brother had a gun, insisting he was only going out for a simple errand.
“My brother no get any gun… na just waybill he dey go collect,” she maintained.
The grieving sister further alleged that the police restricted access to the body and quickly moved it away from the scene.
She added that the viral video circulating online was what first alerted the family to the reality of what happened.
The incident has continued to spark outrage online, with many Nigerians demanding answers and justice.
