The Federal Government has approved a fresh increase in allowances and welfare benefits for civil servants — a move aimed at improving take-home pay and boosting morale across the workforce.
Announcing the development, Head of Service, Didi Walson-Jack, said the review affects workers under key salary structures including CONPSS and CONRAISS, ensuring both senior and junior officers benefit.
One major highlight?
Civil servants will now receive 100% Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) — even for trainings within their city. Yes, even Abuja-based workers attending Abuja trainings will get full DTA.
Other allowances reviewed include:
• Estacode
• Book allowance
• Several welfare benefits under Public Service Rules

The government also introduced a new exit benefit scheme for retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme. Starting from January 1, 2026, retirees will receive 100% of their full emoluments as an exit package — alongside their pension.
Additionally, the Employee Compensation Scheme has been activated to support workers in cases of job-related injury or death.
This comes amid rising pressure from labour unions as the cost of living continues to bite harder across the country.
Meanwhile, in a related move, Seyi Makinde approved a ₦10,000 monthly transport support for civil servants in Oyo State to cushion rising transport costs.
