Daniel Daga has reportedly been sentenced to six months in prison by the Nordmøre and Romsdal District Court after being found guilty of committing a sexual act without consent, according to a report by Bold Sports citing Norwegian outlet VG Sporten.

Court Verdict and Financial Penalty

The ruling, delivered on Tuesday afternoon, came against the 19-year-old midfielder. In addition to the prison sentence, Daga has been ordered to pay 10,000 Norwegian kroner in legal costs.

Molde FK, the player’s club, confirmed the development in a statement on Instagram, stressing that the verdict is not yet final.

“The player has, through his defence attorney, notified an appeal of the verdict. The case is therefore not legally binding and will be further addressed in the judicial system,” the club said.

Club Responds to the Situation

Molde acknowledged the gravity of the case and the strain it has placed on all involved.

“This is a very demanding case for everyone concerned. Molde Football Club, as an employer, has a responsibility to protect our employees while respecting the seriousness of the matter and the burdens it places on all parties,” the club added.

Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, the midfielder will remain unavailable for selection.

“Based on the situation and the ongoing legal process, the club has decided that the player will not be part of the match squad until further notice.”

Daga’s Career So Far

Daga joined Molde in January 2025 and has made appearances in both the Norwegian top flight and European competitions. At the international level, he represented the Nigeria U-20 national football team at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where the Flying Eagles were eliminated in the round of 16 by the Argentina national football team.

The case remains under appeal, and further updates are expected as the legal process continues.
