A Nigerian lady has sparked heated reactions online after sharing how her younger cousin allegedly used ₦150,000 meant for business to fund a night out at a club.
She decided to support her cousin financially after several family members described the young woman as hardworking and serious about starting a small business. The money was handed over in good faith, with the hope that it would help her become financially independent.
But two weeks later, she saw videos on Snapchat. Her cousin was at a nightclub, spraying money with friends. She was shocked and disappointed.
She confronted her cousin. The response? “Life is short. I used the money to enjoy myself first.”
The lady was heartbroken, especially after the sacrifice she made to provide that support.
To make matters worse, her aunt called her and said she should “understand her” because the cousin is still young.
Feeling betrayed and unsupported, she decided to stop offering financial help to relatives altogether. Now family members are calling her proud and wicked.
She asked: “Was I wrong for cutting everyone off after that?”
The internet is reacting strongly. One person wrote: “She used your hard-earned money to spray in a club. That is madness.”
Another said: “The aunt defending her is part of the problem. No wonder the girl has no sense.”
Someone else added: “You are not wrong. They are enabling bad behavior. Stay away from them.”
A different voice said: “This is why people don’t like helping family anymore. One bad egg ruins it for everyone.”
