Popular Nigerian TikToker Peller, whose real name is Habeeb Hamzat, has stirred reactions online after criticizing the behaviour of some women on TikTok, describing certain viral videos as shocking and disrespectful.
Speaking in a video shared on social media, the influencer expressed concern over explicit content posted during some TikTok challenges, where participants perform sexually suggestive acts.
“It’s not even a joke anymore. Guys, it’s not a joke again. Who will marry you people? Are you mad?” he said while reacting to the videos.
Call for self-respect
Peller urged women to uphold self-respect, stressing that dignity and personal conduct play a major role in how people are perceived.
“I will only respect women that respect themselves. Any woman doing rubbish on TikTok, wey no get family, if you mumu yourself, I no go respect you,” he stated.
According to him, the type of content shared online can influence how society views individuals, especially in cultures where family reputation and personal values are highly regarded.
He added that behaviour displayed on public platforms should reflect responsible personal values.
Concerns about consequences of online behaviour
The TikToker also warned that inappropriate online actions could have lasting consequences. He suggested that participating in explicit challenges may damage personal reputation and affect future opportunities.
His remarks have since sparked debate across social media, with Nigerians expressing mixed reactions. While some supported his call for dignity and responsibility online, others criticized his comments as judgmental.
The conversation has reignited broader discussions about the responsibility of content creators, the influence of social media on young people, and the balance between creative freedom and personal accountability.
