A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after sharing her experience while trying to book a private female chef in Lagos.
Taking to X, user @itzchrisunique revealed that she and her sister wanted to hire the chef simply to sample her cooking. However, things took an unexpected turn during their conversation.
According to her, the chef abruptly ended the call after realizing that the prospective clients were women. The chef later sent a message on WhatsApp explaining that she only provides her services to male clients.
Sharing the experience, she wrote:
“My sister and I decided to book this Lagos private chef just to taste her food. Immediately the lady heard that we were the ones booking her to come, she cut the call. She later told us on WhatsApp that she serves men only.”
The revelation quickly generated mixed reactions from social media users.
Stephen Nwachukwu questioned the chef’s decision, writing:
“So the gender of her clients is more important than the food she can cook?”
Omotunde offered a different perspective:
“She knows what she’s selling and who her target audience is. Obviously, you’re not part of it.”

Reacting to the controversy, Paul Oladele suggested that the chef may have her reasons:
“She may have her reason, though. Women are known to be hypercritical of other women and sometimes seek to undermine or frustrate the efforts of females they perceive as doing well.”
The incident has since fueled debate online, with many questioning the chef’s business approach while others argue that she is free to choose her preferred clientele.
