Man Recounts Surviving Acid Attack, Says Faith Remains Unshaken
A man has shared a powerful testimony about surviving an acid attack, claiming the incident occurred shortly after he publicly spoke about his Christian faith and conversion journey.
According to his account, he had been ministering at a church gathering where he shared his personal salvation story and preached to attendees. He said the event attracted a large audience and that many people made commitments to the Christian faith during the programme.
Attack After Church Service
Recounting the incident, the man said the attack took place as he was leaving the church after the meeting had concluded.
According to him, a group of individuals called out to him, appearing to seek assistance. However, when he turned back to respond, the situation took a tragic turn.
He alleged that the attackers were upset by what they viewed as the growing number of people embracing Christianity in his community in The Gambia following his testimony.
“Unknown to me, they were angry Muslims who were bitter because of a growing number of people who are leaving Islam in my community in Gambia because of my testimony,” he claimed.
The man said two individuals then threw acid at him, leaving him with severe facial injuries and damage to his eyes.
Despite undergoing several surgeries, he said he continues to battle health complications resulting from the attack.
Faith Remains Strong
Reflecting on his recovery, the man said the support and prayers of fellow Christians helped him endure one of the most difficult periods of his life.
Speaking about the scars he now bears, he said:
“I bear this scar and pain for Jesus. This is the mark that I left darkness into light.”
He also stated that the experience has not shaken his commitment to his faith despite what he described as ongoing threats.
“Although they are still threatening me, there is no going back from following Jesus.”
His testimony has sparked reactions online, with many social media users expressing sympathy, offering prayers, and discussing the importance of religious freedom, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths.
Others stressed the need for mutual respect and the rejection of violence in matters relating to religious beliefs.
