A joint security operation in Bauchi State has led to the rescue of two kidnapping victims and the arrest of five suspected kidnappers in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the victims—a 40-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son—were abducted on June 2 after armed men reportedly invaded their residence in Kwarin Gadali Hamlet, Pali District.
Following a distress call, security agencies launched an intelligence-led investigation that quickly identified and tracked members of the suspected kidnapping gang.
In a coordinated operation involving police officers, military personnel, and local vigilantes, three suspects were arrested in Kuka Village, Duguri District. Further investigations subsequently led to the arrest of two additional suspects believed to have played roles in the abduction.
Police said information obtained during the interrogation of the suspects helped operatives locate the victims, who were rescued unharmed during a follow-up operation on June 3.
The rescued mother and son were given medical attention and have since been reunited with their family.
Authorities confirmed that all five suspects remain in custody, while the case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The police also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who are still at large and to recover weapons allegedly used during the operation.
The successful rescue has been hailed as another significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes across Bauchi State.
