A man has shared a rather unfortunate experience after what was meant to be a simple food order ended in disappointment.
According to him, he ordered a meal of 5 eggs, 5 pieces of yam, and chicken while working from home due to hunger. After waiting for about an hour, he received a message that his food was ready, so he went to pick it up, paid for it, and began heading home.
However, things took an unexpected turn along the way.
As he was about to cross the road, the black nylon bag holding the food suddenly tore from the bottom, causing the entire meal to spill onto the ground. He said he stood there in shock for a moment, unable to process what had just happened, before eventually trying to salvage what he could from the scattered food.
Visibly frustrated, he later returned to the vendor to explain the incident. The vendor, upon hearing what happened, simply responded, “Eiyah… what are we going to do now?”
He was then given another nylon bag to repack the few remaining portions before leaving.
Despite the disappointment, the man said he kept his composure throughout the incident, though he admitted it left him frustrated and questioning whether he would patronise the vendor again.
The experience has since sparked conversations around food packaging quality and the everyday challenges customers face when buying takeout meals from small vendors.
