Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed that the 2027 presidential election will mark his final attempt to become Nigeria’s president.
Speaking during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television, Atiku reflected on his long-standing political journey, stating clearly that his next bid will be his last.
“The 2027 election will be my last outing,” he said.
Atiku, who has been in Nigeria’s political space for decades and has contested for the presidency multiple times since the early 1990s, also used the opportunity to address what he described as a leadership gap in the country.
According to him, experience at the top level of government plays a major role in shaping how states perform. He suggested that some of the challenges seen across different states are linked to a lack of strong and experienced leadership at the national level.
His comments have already started generating conversations, especially as political alignments and strategies ahead of the 2027 elections gradually begin to take shape.
