President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he remains unfazed by opposition criticism, insisting that he will not be distracted from addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu described his critics as “noise-makers,” stressing that they cannot intimidate him or derail his administration.
“They want to scare me off? It is a lie. I have been through this path before,” the President said, referencing his political journey from party primaries to the 2023 general election.
According to him, the tough experiences leading to his emergence as president have prepared him to handle the pressures of governance. He reaffirmed his commitment to remain in office and tackle the country’s pressing issues.
“I won’t run away from the affairs of the nation,” he assured supporters.
Tinubu also used the opportunity to emphasise the importance of respecting democratic institutions, particularly the judiciary. He noted that adherence to the rule of law remains essential, regardless of whether court decisions favour individuals or not.
Highlighting his administration’s vision, the President said his goal is to “break the shackles of poverty and ignorance” while fostering unity and national development.
He further urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stay united ahead of future political contests, warning against forces he believes are working against national progress.
In a swipe at opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Tinubu questioned the outcomes of past privatisation policies, particularly in the steel sector, suggesting they failed to deliver expected results.
The President concluded by reaffirming his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and sustaining the “Renewed Hope” agenda as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
