A shocking story has surfaced online. A woman allegedly printed obituary posters for her husband while he was still alive abroad.
According to the viral tale, the woman had already started mourning activities and collecting condolence donations before her husband unexpectedly returned to Nigeria from Italy — healthy and unharmed.
The man had spent several years in Italy working tirelessly to support his family. He sent money regularly, built a house, paid school fees, and provided for extended family members. His wife was respected in the community because she appeared devoted and supportive.
Then things changed.
She began telling people that her husband had become seriously ill overseas. Concerned neighbours and church members sympathized. Prayer messages circulated on WhatsApp.
Soon after, obituary posters bearing the husband’s name appeared across the neighbourhood. The woman dressed in black and remained indoors. Everyone believed she was grieving.
But the man was never dead. He had lost access to his Nigerian phone line due to technical issues abroad. Confusion started after a friend overseas mistakenly told relatives that the man had collapsed.
Before anyone could verify the situation, burial preparations and condolence contributions had begun.
Then the biggest shock came. The man arrived in Nigeria alive and healthy. He walked into his compound dragging two travelling bags. Confused residents watched in disbelief. One elderly woman screamed, thinking she was seeing a ghost.
The situation became even more embarrassing when the man discovered that his wife had allegedly collected nearly ₦4 million in condolence donations from relatives, church members, and friends.
The matter reportedly escalated into a police case after several contributors demanded refunds. Residents gave the woman the nickname “Madam Resurrection.”
The internet is reacting. One person wrote: “This is the highest level of wickedness. She buried him alive for money.”
Another said: “Imagine collecting donations for a funeral when the man is still breathing.”
Someone else added: “Madam Resurrection. That name will stick forever.”
