A man has sparked conversations online after sharing an unexpected response he received from someone who mistakenly got money he transferred to the wrong Opay account.

According to him, the incident happened after he accidentally sent funds to an unintended recipient during a transaction.

Realising the error, he said he quickly reached out to the phone number linked to the account and explained the situation, expecting a straightforward discussion about how to retrieve the money.

However, the conversation reportedly took a surprising turn.

Recalling the exchange, he said the recipient told him the money had come at a time of urgent need. He quoted the response as:

“I mistakenly sent money to a wrong Opay account. When I called the number, the person told me the money came in when he needed it the most.”

The remark quickly gained attention online, sparking mixed reactions from social media users. While some sympathised with the recipient’s situation, others insisted that mistakenly sent funds should always be returned, regardless of personal circumstances.

The incident has also reignited discussions around the importance of double-checking account details before completing digital transfers, especially with the growing reliance on mobile banking platforms.

As the story continues to circulate online, it has drawn broader conversations about honesty, financial pressure, and the realities of mistaken bank transfers in a digital economy.
