A landlord has sparked reactions after issuing a strict directive to tenants in his building, banning them from buying food or household provisions outside the compound.

According to an official notice obtained by reporters, tenants are required to purchase all such items directly from the landlady or risk facing serious consequences.

Mandatory purchases from the landlady

The notice, titled “Mandatory House Rules and Regulations,” states that all tenants must buy their foodstuffs and household supplies exclusively from the landlady.

“Tenants are not permitted to purchase such items outside, as these goods are already made available within the house,” the notice read.

The landlord explained that the rule was introduced as part of efforts to ensure proper management and maintain order within the compound.

Curfews and conduct rules

Beyond the food restriction, the notice also outlined several strict guidelines governing daily life in the building.

According to the rules, the main gate will be locked every day from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 a.m., and no tenant or visitor will be allowed to enter or leave the premises during those hours.

The notice also prohibits crowded gatherings, loitering around the compound, smoking anywhere within the premises, and any form of misconduct such as fighting or causing noise disturbances.

Tenants were also warned that any security breach caused by negligence would make the responsible tenant fully liable.

Consequences for non-compliance

The landlord made it clear that the rules are not open for negotiation.

“Any tenant who fails or refuses to comply with these regulations shall be required to vacate the apartment immediately without further notice,” the notice stated.

Tenants were further advised to carefully review the regulations, with the landlord stressing that continued residence in the building and payment of rent would automatically indicate full acceptance of the rules.
