A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after alleging that he was denied entry into Mauritius despite travelling with valid documents for a planned vacation.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @dammiedammie95, the man said he arrived in Mauritius for a holiday but was allegedly refused entry and deported alongside other Nigerian travellers.
According to him, the trip was fully planned, with hotel bookings and tourist reservations already made before arrival.
“Mauritius declined our visa after we arrived. Everybody is chasing Nigerians out of their country,” he lamented.
He claimed that on arrival, passengers were separated for questioning and treated in a manner he described as harsh, despite having completed all required travel procedures.
The traveller further stated that he had his hotel reservation, yellow card, proof of funds, and other necessary documents, yet was still allegedly denied entry.
“I already booked my hotel, 5-star hotel, tour reserve centre, three places. I have my yellow card, I have everything, even the requested cash. They deported us just because we’re Nigerians,” he added.
The video has since triggered widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing frustration and concern over how citizens are allegedly being treated at international borders.
The incident continues to trend on social media, fueling broader conversations about travel restrictions, documentation checks, and Nigeria’s global image.
