Orji Kalu backs APC, says opposition stands no chance in 2027
Former Abia State governor and senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has openly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the opposition cannot defeat the ruling party.
Speaking confidently, Kalu described opposition parties as “very weak,” adding that many of their members maintain close relationships with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to him, political rivalry does not necessarily translate to real division, as many actors across party lines remain allies.
He challenged opposition figures to present stronger and clearer policies, noting that he has yet to see a convincing alternative to what the current administration is offering Nigerians.
Kalu also defended Tinubu’s handling of the economy, stating that the country was in poor condition before 2023 but is now gradually stabilising. He expressed confidence that even in a free and fair election, Tinubu would still emerge victorious.
Describing the APC as a growing force, Kalu likened the party to a “moving train,” claiming it continues to attract more supporters across the country, including at the grassroots level.
His comments have since sparked debate, with many Nigerians weighing in on the state of the opposition and what the 2027 elections could look like.
