Tiwa Savage Faces Backlash as Fans Label Her “Pro-Tinubu” Following Oyo Kidnapping Remarks.

The incident, which reportedly involved the kidnapping of schoolchildren and the killing of a teacher, sparked widespread concern after videos from the scene circulated online.

In a video shared online, Tiwa Savage expressed shock over the development and said she only became aware of the incident after seeing a post from fellow singer Spyro.

According to her, the matter had not gained enough attention online when she first came across it. She added that she later tried to understand the situation better and found a post from media personality KieKie, who reportedly stated that the incident had occurred nearly two weeks earlier.

“The kidnapping that happened in Oyo State, it was just yesterday that Spyro was speaking about it that I heard about it. I tried to reach out to some people to know the background story because it was not trending. I saw KieKie’s post, and she said it was almost two weeks ago,” she said.

Her comments, however, quickly triggered backlash across social media platforms, with many users on X (formerly Twitter) criticising her for what they described as a delayed and poorly informed reaction to a serious national issue.

Some users accused the singer of being out of touch with pressing societal concerns, while others suggested that celebrities often only respond when issues begin trending online.

A section of commenters also questioned her statement about “reaching out to people” for clarification, arguing that such incidents require immediate attention rather than background checks.

Netizens’ reactions were sharply divided, with some posts calling her response insensitive, while others defended her, saying public figures are also entitled to take time before commenting on sensitive matters.
