South African star Tyla emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 52nd American Music Awards held in Las Vegas, taking home two major awards.
The 24-year-old singer clinched the Best Afrobeats Artist category, edging out strong competition from Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, and MOLIY.
She also won Social Song of the Year for her hit track “CHANEL,” making her the only African artist to receive an award at this year’s ceremony, which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and was hosted by Queen Latifah.
Tyla entered the night as the most-nominated African artist in AMA history with four nominations, including Best Female R&B Artist and Best Music Video.
Released in 2025, “CHANEL” enjoyed massive global success, earning millions of streams and further strengthening her international breakthrough. The win adds to her growing list of achievements following her breakout hit “Water,” which helped establish her as one of Africa’s leading global crossover stars.
