Onuachu Hits 20 League Goals as Trabzonspor Beat Kayserispor 3-1
Paul Onuachu continued his remarkable scoring run, netting twice to help Trabzonspor secure a 3-1 victory over Kayserispor in Monday’s Süper Lig clash, reaching the 20-goal mark in the league. The Nigerian striker has now scored in nine consecutive league matches, guiding Trabzonspor to their fourth straight league win.
Early Red Card Hampers Kayserispor
Kayserispor’s challenge became significantly harder in the 8th minute when midfielder Dorukhan Toköz received a straight red card, leaving the home side with ten men for almost the entire match.
Onuachu Stars Before the Break
Trabzonspor capitalised on their numerical advantage late in the first half. Onuachu opened the scoring in stoppage time of the first half, rising to head home a cross from Wagner Pina. The striker doubled the lead five minutes later from the penalty spot, giving the visitors a commanding 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Dominance Continues After the Break
The visitors extended their lead early in the second half when an own goal from Bilal Bayazit made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute. Kayserispor pulled one back in the 83rd minute through substitute German Onugkha, but it proved only a consolation as Trabzonspor controlled the remainder of the match.
Onuachu Tops Scoring Charts
The win lifts Trabzonspor to 54 points from 25 matches, keeping them in third place behind Fenerbahçe and league leaders Galatasaray.
Onuachu’s brace ensures he remains the Süper Lig top scorer, four goals ahead of Eldor Shomurodov, and he has now scored 22 goals in all competitions this season.
This performance further cements Onuachu’s reputation as one of Europe’s most in-form forwards.
