VeryDarkMan Urges Makinde to Act Swiftly Over Reported Abduction of School Children in Oyo

Social media critic and activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has called on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to take immediate action following the reported abduction of school children in the state.

VDM made the appeal during a staged protest at the Oyo State Government House, where he expressed deep concern over the safety of the victims and urged authorities to accelerate rescue efforts.

Addressing the governor, he warned that any delay in response could worsen the situation.

“Mr Gov, if you’re waiting for the perfect time to go rescue those children, they’ll keep them there for long and even marry them off to other kidnappers,” he said.

Call for Urgent Action

The activist stated that many Nigerians, including members of a group he referred to as The Ratels, are willing to support efforts to rescue the abducted children, even if such operations involve significant risks.

He argued that criminal groups often take advantage when authorities fail to respond decisively to security threats.

“We’re ready to enter the bush with you today or tomorrow, and we know there’ll be collateral damage and we’re ready for it,” he said.

“I’ve studied these bandits for so long, I’ve come to realize that if they push and you don’t push back, they’ll see it as weakness and start asking for levies from Oyo State farmers,” he added.

VDM’s remarks have since sparked widespread debate online. While some Nigerians supported his call for urgent and decisive action, others argued that security operations require careful planning and coordination to avoid unnecessary risks and further loss of life.
