The Coelacanths delivered one of the most dominant performances in recent women’s football history, thrashing Sudan 17-0 in the first leg before sealing qualification with a 13-0 win in the return fixture.

Having cruised through the opening round, Comoros now face a far more formidable challenge against reigning African champions Nigeria.
The Super Falcons, Africa’s most successful women’s national team, enter the qualification campaign at this stage and will be overwhelming favourites to progress. The two-legged second-round tie is scheduled to take place between October 5 and October 13, 2026.
Nigeria will be determined to continue their proud tradition on the continental stage as they chase one of Africa’s coveted spots at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
