Ademola Lookman is back in form. The Super Eagles forward scored for the second game in a row as Atletico Madrid defeated Girona 1-0 on Sunday.

He scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute, tapping in from close range after a perfect low pass from Antoine Griezmann. That goal was enough to give Diego Simeone’s side all three points.

Lookman now has four La Liga goals in 11 appearances this season. Across all competitions, he has contributed nine goals and three assists since joining Atletico.

The victory leaves Girona in deep trouble. They sit 18th on the table with 40 points, just two points away from safety. They must win their final match and hope other results go their way to avoid relegation.

Meanwhile, Atletico have moved level on points with third-placed Villarreal ahead of their final league meeting next Sunday.

Fans are reacting. One person wrote: “Lookman is finishing the season strong. Nigeria needs this form.” Another said: “He is finally settling at Atletico. Better late than never.”

Someone else added: “Girona’s relegation fight is not over. One game left. Everything can happen.”

What do you think can Lookman carry this form into the next season?
