A ride-hailing driver in Abuja has shared an unusual experience involving a female passenger who allegedly refused to pay her fare after reaching her destination.
In a video circulating online, the driver explained that after completing the trip and asking for payment, the passenger told him to call out her account number, claiming someone else would transfer the money on her behalf.
“I waited for about 15 minutes and didn’t receive any alert,” the driver said. “So I asked her, ‘Madam, how far? It’s taking too long for this transfer, what’s going on?’ She told me to hold on and said someone else was handling the payment.”
Passenger delays payment
According to the driver, the situation dragged on for nearly an hour, with the passenger repeatedly asking him to be patient.
“She started begging me, saying she didn’t have money,” he recounted. “I told her if you’re going to visit someone, at least have your own transport fare. Many Abuja girls are fond of doing this.”
The driver added that it was not the first time he had encountered such a situation.
“Last December, one lady told me she would send the money when she got home. Till today she has blocked me, and my ₦5,000 is still with her,” he said.
Wig taken as collateral
Frustrated by the delay, the driver said he eventually asked the passenger to step out of the vehicle and took her wig as collateral until the fare was paid.
“She has been calling me since yesterday,” he said. “If she wants her wig back, she’ll have to pay for the ride. I won’t take it to her, and I’ll even double the amount. Her money don increase.”
He concluded by urging passengers to ensure they can pay for their trips before booking rides.
“I didn’t come to Abuja to play with anyone. If you don’t have money, don’t book a ride,” he said.
