Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the visible transformation of a major road in the state, saying residents who witness the development have strong reasons to support the President ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking while inspecting the rehabilitated road project, the governor highlighted the significant improvement compared to the route’s previous condition.
“There’s no man in Edo who can see this road today and say he won’t vote for the President,” Okpebholo said. “If the road were still like it used to be, nobody would be able to pass through it during the rainy season.”
Before the rehabilitation, the road was reportedly almost impassable, especially during periods of heavy rainfall, making movement extremely difficult for motorists and residents in the area.
According to the governor, the upgrade will not only improve transportation but also boost economic activities in surrounding communities. He emphasised that infrastructure development plays a vital role in connecting communities and improving the daily lives of citizens.
Okpebholo’s remarks have since sparked discussions online. While some Nigerians praised the road project and its potential benefits, others questioned whether public infrastructure projects should influence political support ahead of future elections.
