Wife of the founder of Streams of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze, Eno Jerry, has shared details of how Abia State Governor Alex Otti reacted upon learning about the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.
Speaking during the actor’s service of songs, Eno Jerry revealed that the governor was deeply shocked and saddened by the news, prompting him to immediately reach out to the bereaved family and offer his support.
According to her, Governor Otti wasted no time in taking action after receiving news of the actor’s passing.
“When the news got to His Excellency’s attention, it met him with a lot of shock and sadness. And as soon as he heard about Alex, he swung into action,” she said.
She disclosed that the governor personally contacted members of Alex Ekubo’s family, including speaking with the actor’s mother, while offering words of comfort and encouragement during the difficult period.
Eno Jerry described the late actor as a proud son of Abia State who consistently celebrated his roots and never concealed his love for his hometown, Arochukwu.
She further revealed that Governor Otti pledged to ensure that the road leading to the actor’s hometown is made motorable ahead of his burial to ease access for mourners and visitors expected to attend the final rites.
“He also made a pledge to help them fix the road that leads to Alex’s hometown, at least make it motorable even before the burial,” she said.
Beyond the road project, Eno Jerry noted that the governor also promised financial assistance and adequate security arrangements for guests travelling to Arochukwu for the burial ceremony.
“He also pledged financial support and security for all those who will be coming for the burial in Arochukwu,” she added.
She emphasized that Governor Otti remains willing to do even more for the family if the need arises, noting that Alex Ekubo made Abia State proud through his accomplishments in the entertainment industry and the legacy he leaves behind.
Her remarks have since sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians commending the governor’s compassionate response and celebrating the late actor’s contributions to Nollywood and his home state.
