A Nigerian lady has sparked a heated debate online. She claims that public reaction to insecurity would be different if the president were Igbo.
According to her, religious leaders and citizens who used to shout during past crises have suddenly gone quiet. She believes ethnicity is the reason.
“If it was an Igbo man that was president and the country was facing this level of insecurity, Nigerians would have flooded the streets with protest. Pastors and Daddy G.Os would have been calling him names from the pulpit. But now all of them have gone mute and silent. Everybody knows what they are doing.”
Her statement has divided the internet.
One person wrote: “She is right. When Jonathan was president, pastors insulted him every Sunday. Now, nothing.”
Another said: “Insecurity is insecurity. No president should be above criticism, regardless of tribe.”
Someone else added: “This is not about tribe. People are just tired. Protests don’t change anything anymore.”
A different voice said: “She spoke the truth and people are angry because it hurts.”
What do you think — is she right or just stirring trouble?
“If an Igbo man was the president of this country and the country was facing this level of insecurity we have now, Nigerians would have flooded the streets with protests…”
