A pregnant woman has sparked serious debate online after sharing how her husband handles money between both families.
She is married and expecting her first child. She is not working. Her husband earns ₦280,000 monthly.
Every month, he gives his parents and siblings ₦80,000. He gives her ₦150,000 for household needs and her personal upkeep.
But in six months of marriage, he has never given her parents or siblings any money.
She asked him to rotate. Give his parents this month, and hers next month. He said no.
“If I want to give my parents money, I should take it from the ₦150k he gives me.”
But she says the ₦150k is not even enough for their own home. Things are costly. She is pregnant and stressed.
The internet is divided.
One person wrote: “He is doing his best. ₦280k is not a big salary. She should manage.”
Another said: “Marriage should be balanced. Why are his parents the only ones getting support?”
Someone else added: “He gives her ₦150k. If she wants to help her parents, she can save from it. That is fair.”
A different voice said: “She is carrying his child and not working. The least he can do is help her parents too.”
What do you think should a husband support his wife’s parents equally?
