Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman is set to return straight into the starting lineup for Atletico Madrid ahead of their UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg clash against Arsenal.
After missing the team’s last two games, Lookman has now resumed full training and is expected to play a key role as Atletico push for a place in the final.
The timing couldn’t be better, as manager Diego Simeone is currently dealing with multiple injury concerns in his squad. Key players like Nicolas Gonzalez and Pablo Barrios are ruled out, while defender Jose Maria Gimenez is also unavailable.
However, the return of Lookman and David Hancko has given the team a much-needed boost. Reports suggest both players could be included in the starting XI, with some adjustments expected across the squad.
On the other side, Arsenal are also dealing with their own injury issues. Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber are ruled out, while Mikel Merino is still unavailable.
Manager Mikel Arteta is expected to rely on Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard in attack, with Viktor Gyokeres leading the line.
With both teams facing key absences, all eyes will be on Lookman as Atletico aim to secure a strong result at home before heading into the second leg.
