A pastor has shared a startling account of how a trusted church member allegedly deceived him with a fake visa offer and withheld his international passport, leaving him stranded and disappointed.

The cleric’s story surfaced in a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), where he recounted the painful experience and the lasting impact it had on him.

According to the pastor, the church member approached him with an offer to facilitate a trip to Dubai, promising him a fully arranged visa and a short vacation abroad.

Excited by the opportunity, the pastor said he was instructed to submit his international passport and prepare for the journey.

Speaking in Yoruba during the video, he explained:

“One of my church members told me to bring my passport and that he would help me get a visa. He said I would be travelling to Dubai and only needed to spend a few days there to enjoy myself.”

Believing the arrangement was genuine, the pastor informed his family and made preparations for the trip. He also traveled to Lagos ahead of the scheduled departure date, expecting to board his flight as planned.

However, things took an unexpected turn when he arrived at the airport.

According to him, the church member who had organized the trip was nowhere to be found. Multiple attempts to contact him reportedly failed, as calls went unanswered before the phone eventually became unreachable.

The pastor said he later realized that he had been deceived.

Worse still, he claimed that the church member never returned his international passport, forcing him to go through the stressful process of obtaining a replacement.

“The passport was not misplaced. He deliberately kept it. I didn’t travel anywhere; he deceived me, and he was a church member,” the cleric lamented.

The pastor further revealed that he eventually encountered the man again about six or seven years later, describing the meeting as a painful reminder of the betrayal he suffered from someone he had trusted within his congregation.

The story has sparked reactions online, with many social media users expressing shock that such an incident could involve a church member, while others shared similar experiences of being misled by people they trusted.
