Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich delivered a historic night in the UEFA Champions League after a dramatic 5–4 encounter in the semi-final first leg at the Parc des Princes.
The nine-goal clash set a new record as the highest-scoring Champions League semi-final in the modern era.
It also became the first time both teams scored at least four goals each in a Champions League semi-final, underlining just how open and explosive the match was.
Bayern opened the scoring through Harry Kane from the penalty spot, but PSG responded strongly with goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and João Neves to take control early.
Michael Olise brought Bayern level, before Ousmane Dembélé restored PSG’s lead from the spot just before half-time.
In the second half, PSG looked in full control after Kvaratskhelia’s second goal and another strike from Dembélé made it 5–2.
But Bayern refused to back down, scoring late through Dayot Upamecano and Luis Díaz to reduce the deficit to 5–4 and keep the tie alive heading into the second leg in Munich.
PSG manager Luis Enrique described the game as one of the best of his career, calling it an unforgettable night of football.
Despite the win, PSG head into the return leg knowing Bayern’s late comeback has left the semi-final finely balanced.
