Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed confidence that Nigeria can successfully defend the Unity Cup title when they face Jamaica in Saturday’s final in London.
The highly anticipated clash will see the Super Eagles take on the Reggae Boyz in a repeat of last year’s final, which Nigeria won via a penalty shootout after an entertaining 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Chelle Confident of Success
Speaking ahead of the final, Chelle emphasized his commitment to instilling a winning mentality within the squad and insisted his players are fully prepared to retain the trophy.
“Penalties are part of the game, and they can decide who wins a match. Every time I go into a game, I have the mentality to win,” Chelle said.
“This is the culture I have put in these boys — the winning culture. I don’t know if Saturday’s game will end in penalties; what I know is that I have prepared my team to win.”
The Malian tactician also praised the youthful squad at his disposal, highlighting their hunger, determination, and potential for the future.
“These are very young players with a bright future, and they are hungry for success at every level. On Saturday, we will see how the game is decided, but we have prepared to win and defend the Unity Cup.”
Super Eagles Target Back-to-Back Titles
Nigeria lifted the 2025 Unity Cup after converting all five of their penalties in the shootout against Jamaica, with Dwayne Atkinson missing the decisive spot-kick for the Caribbean side.
