A young Nigerian lady has sparked mixed reactions online after admitting that life has been more difficult for her since she became single, particularly when it comes to feeding and paying her bills.
Speaking in a video making rounds on social media, the lady revealed that although she doesn’t necessarily miss being in the relationship, she does miss the financial support her ex-boyfriend used to provide whenever she visited him.
According to her, her ex often took care of her meals, data subscription, and some of her expenses, which made life easier at the time.
In her words:
“The only thing I miss about being in a relationship is that anytime I visited my ex-boyfriend, he catered for my three square meals, data, and bills. But now that I’m single, even eating breakfast is very hard for me, let alone paying my other bills.”
She explained that being single has made her realise just how much financial support she received while she was still in the relationship.
The experience, she said, has even made her consider getting into another relationship soon because she is already exhausted handling everything on her own.
“At this point, I’m looking forward to entering another relationship because I’m tired,” she added.
Her statement quickly generated mixed reactions across social media platforms. While some users argued that relationships should not be built mainly on financial dependence, others pointed out that it is common for partners to support each other financially.
One user commented, “This is exactly why some people refuse to leave bad relationships.” Another added jokingly, “Cost of living has now entered relationship matter.” 😂
