The naira opened the week on a calm note. No major movement. No sudden crash. Just stability.
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the official market traded at about ₦1,371 per dollar. The black market was almost the same — between ₦1,370 and ₦1,372.
The gap between both markets is now very small. That means the Central Bank’s efforts are working.
In Lagos, Abuja, and Kano, BDC operators quoted the dollar at about ₦1,370 for buying and ₦1,372 for selling.
Analysts say improved confidence in the forex market and reduced speculative demand have helped keep the naira steady.
The Central Bank has also kept the interest rate high at 26.5 percent. That helps limit excess liquidity and protects the naira from sudden attacks.
For now, traders expect the naira to stay within this range unless something major changes.
What do you think will the naira get stronger or weaker in the coming weeks?
