Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has openly backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, saying the country is currently in “capable hands.”
Speaking in Port Harcourt during a gathering of southern monarchs, Fubara praised the administration’s efforts, noting progress in economic recovery and infrastructure development.
According to him, projects like coastal road construction and other key initiatives show that the government is moving in the right direction — despite existing challenges.
He stressed that continuity is important, adding that changing leadership midway could disrupt ongoing reforms.
“It is not ideal to change the goalposts in the middle of the game,” he said.
The meeting, hosted under the Southern Traditional Rulers Council, was chaired by the Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who also emphasized unity across the southern region.
Fubara further called on stakeholders to work together, insisting that collaboration remains key to achieving long-term development in the country.
The endorsement has since sparked conversations, especially as political alignments ahead of 2027 continue to take shape.
