VeryDarkMan Responds to Backlash Over Comments on Terrorism, Insecurity

Social media activist and influencer, VeryDarkMan, has sparked widespread reactions online after addressing criticism over his recent comments on the government’s handling of terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria.

Taking to Instagram, the activist revealed that he had come under heavy criticism after suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should consider meeting certain demands made by terrorists in situations where innocent lives are at risk.

According to VeryDarkMan, the worsening security situation across the country has left many Nigerians vulnerable, making it necessary for authorities to explore urgent measures to protect citizens.

“Some people are abusing me because I said Tinubu should accept the terrorists’ demands. What does it matter if they release the terrorists in captivity?” he said.

He argued that terrorist groups are already operating in several parts of the country and questioned the effectiveness of the government’s current security approach. He further claimed that the growing insecurity could have been mitigated through greater investment in national security infrastructure.

“The terrorists are everywhere anyway, and they’re not even supposed to be in Nigeria in the first place if Tinubu had invested in our security,” he added.

The activist also criticized the administration’s spending priorities, alleging that substantial resources have been committed to various projects while insecurity continues to escalate in different regions of the country.

His remarks followed the circulation of fresh footage showing the abducted Oyo school principal appealing to the government to meet the kidnappers’ demands by releasing detained members of their group.

Reacting to the video, VeryDarkMan maintained that the request should be considered in the interest of the schoolchildren, who have reportedly remained in captivity for more than two weeks.

His comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media. While some Nigerians expressed support for his concerns about the country’s security challenges and the need to prioritize the safety of hostages, others strongly disagreed with his position on negotiating with terrorists, arguing that such actions could encourage further criminal activities.

The debate continues to generate intense discussion online as concerns over insecurity remain a major national issue.
